RE: Scales are scary!

Just pull into a freeway truck scales when it is posted "Closed" Most of them I have seen, the large digital readout still works when the scales are closed and you don't even have to leave you rig to see the numbers. Just have a pen and pad handy to jot down the numbers. At some of the older, less used scales, you may have to get out and peak through the window to see the readout. This is the method I used no one around so you can take your time and carefully weigh as much as you want and it's free

RE: ladder on side going down road?

my ladder is mounted on the side. The only time it was off is when the dealer took it off and told me I shouldn't travel with it on. I have traveled pretty long distnaces and have never had issues with the ladder being left on the side of the camper. Same thing here

He hit my trailer I can't believe it

OK I store my 1 1/2 year old RV at a local storage facility. I have never had a problem getting my rig in or out. The people next to me hit my rig with thier class A mirror and lightly scuffed and shallowly dented my entrance door. I didn't notice it on my walk around before I pulled away, my wife noticed it while we were loading up because the dust on the door was disturbed from someone touching it. After we get back to the lot I take pictures of the damage to my trailer and the class A mirror that hit me, took measurements of the damage the matched up perfectly and left a note and called the management. So the guy calls me and he sounds about 80 years old. After reading him the riot act for hitting me and not leaving a note or anything. I give him the opportunity to make things right. He answer was "well the damage isn't that bad I can buff it out." What would you do in this situation?

RE: How to plain a trip?

Be careful with the AAA. My wife just used it for our last trip and it took me over a scenic pass about an hour and a half climbing twisty detour. When we met up with our turn off and low and behold it was 40 miles down the interstate we started on. It was a really pretty drive though.

RE: Good Sam ERS or Coach Net??

Ok We just got the Good Sam ERS and have needed to use it three times. Once a flat tire excellent service on this one. Left the interior dome light on in a parking garage for a week while out of town excellent service on this mishap as well. Buried my truck in some sand and my wife was on hold for about 30 minutes while I kept digging I wound up getting the truck out with out them. I guess two out of three aint bad.

RE: clearance between bed rails and 5th wheel

I have roughly 6 inches of clearance. I have not had any problems until this last trip out to Yellowstone. We normally do alot of boondocking this time we were at a indy campground enroute to Yellowstone. No problems pulling into the pull though site but when it was time to leave. I was leaving from a terraced site turning to the down hill side and couldn't make it I was watching and came oh so close. I gave up on that idea and pulled up the hill and had no problems.

Yellowstone entrance West or North

I have gotten some advice from a coworker about which entrance to take. We will be coming from Butte Montana. I was told to avoid that North entrance because of steep climbs and narrow roads. I planned to go in the West entrance but that sure looks like the long way around to get to Fishing Bridge RV Park. Anyone have experience with these entrances. I will be pulling the rig in my sig. TIA

RE: Yellowstone / St. Anthony dunes ... anyone going ???

We will be at Yellowstone from 8/12 - 8/19 at Fishing Bridge. I wish we were going to ST Anthony's. Kinda tough to live in the RV with 4 quads. If your in the area look for the rig in the sig. We will be flying the Stars and Stripes and the Oregon State flag. Stop by and say Hi

Up Coming Trip

I cannot wait we are 1 week away from vacation. We leave Portland Saturday morning our first stop is Spokane WA for a night with relatives. Day two is a water park in Couer D Alene, the kids don't know about this one. Day three is in Butte MT then we arrive at Jellystone for a week of exploring, rafting and cowboy cookouts. We are coming back the southern route through Boise. I think all will be fine and we will have a great time. Does anybody have a must see or must avoid along these routes. We aren't in a big hurry and have 14 year old kids along for the ride.

RE: Federal Controls on RVing Through Tolls

Not true, period...............They only way Law Enforcement can retrieve the information is with a court order, which a lawyer can block or delay. You own the black box, no one else. HAHAHAHAH Do you really believe that?

RE: TV Tires BFG vs Toyo

Well I went with the Toyo's I got a 60.00 credit for the old Michelins at Les Schwab. Out the door with all the warranties 945.00. I stopped at 4wd parts local store and those guys are a bunch of IDIOTS. I knew more than them when I walked in the door. I told them to forget it and walked out.

RE: Newbie question

I have a Pull Rite Superglide with the under bed kit. when I pull the hitch out there are ony four holes in the bottom of my bed. I take it out regularly. It comes apart in three pieces with the base being the heaviest. While I have removed and put it in it by myself the help of my 14 yo son is a tremendous help.

TV Tires BFG vs Toyo

Hey All, I am looking to replace the tires on my TV. I am looking at the Toyo Open Country and the BFG A/T in 265-70-17 load range E. They both have load ranges very close to each other(3180#/tire in SRW) and will be replacing the Michelins that came on my truck. I posted here as with alot of you I am airing down to drag the trailer on the sand but most of my driving is on road. I am towing kinda heavy the rear axle is at 5800# fully loaded. Any experiences good or bad with either of these tires? The price difference is minimal with the Toyo's being 200.00 more out the door. Truck and trailer are in my sig.
